A New Season at 60: Advancing Agriculture, Building Legacies

As I approach my 60th birthday in the next hours, my heart swells with gratitude to the Almighty for His unwavering grace throughout my journey — a journey marked by service, responsibility, and an enduring commitment to the people of Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency, Oyo State, and beyond.

This milestone goes beyond personal celebration; it is a solemn moment of reflection, rededication, and renewed commitment to the values and causes that matter most — unwavering devotion to God Almighty, service to humanity, and purposeful leadership.

Raised in Ido Local Government, an agrarian heartland rich in both soil and spirit, I was early exposed to the resilience of our farmers and the immense potential that lies in our land. Agriculture, to me, has never been just an economic activity — it is a way of life, a driver of food security, job creation, and sustainable national growth.

Since assuming office in the National Assembly, I have remained firmly focused on translating these convictions into real-world impact. One such effort was the distribution of over 5,000 bags of fertiliser to farmers across the constituency — a direct intervention to boost yields, restore confidence, and reaffirm our belief in agriculture as a key to economic self-reliance.

But true empowerment goes beyond the provision of fertiliser. It requires a comprehensive approach. That is why I procured heavy-duty earth-moving equipment worth ₦120 million to ensure the continuous rehabilitation of rural roads. This strategic investment is already improving the transportation of farm produce to markets and unlocking economic opportunities once restricted by poor infrastructure.

We also constructed vital link bridges, connecting remote communities that had long remained isolated. And beyond roads, we have provided access to clean water and electricity in several villages — tangible investments aimed at making life more comfortable and productive for our farmers and their families.

In furtherance of my enduring commitment to grassroots development, and in keeping with my tradition of empowering local communities, I launched the Remi Oseni Soludero Cooperative Societies — a strategic initiative designed to provide farmers with access to credit, capacity-building opportunities, and technical support. This forms a vital part of my broader vision to modernise agriculture, drive innovation, and promote youth involvement in agribusiness.

At 60, I embrace a deeper sense of mission. I reaffirm my commitment to policies and programmes that sustain agricultural growth, transform our rural communities, and build systems that outlive political cycles.

May this new season be defined by greater impact, enduring legacies, and a renewed momentum for progress — for the prosperity of Ibarapa East/Ido, the development of Oyo State, and the advancement of our great nation.
